Small parts, tight drawings, next to the base
Layton is the city at Hill Air Force Base's main gate, and Clearfield's Freeport Center sits just to the west. Between them there are a lot of shops turning, milling and assembling parts for aerospace, defense and industrial customers. That work tends to come with a drawing, a finish callout, and very specific opinions about which surfaces stay bare. Our Uintah shop is about 10 minutes from the main gate area.
Machine shop parts get masked before coating: threads plugged, bores capped, grounding points and mating faces taped off. We check film thickness so a 6061 bracket with a tight fit still fits after coating. A typical single coat is 2 to 4 mils, and on close-tolerance parts that matters.
If your drawing calls out a specific coating spec or test, send it with the quote request. We will tell you plainly whether we can meet it. We would rather decline a job at the quote than explain a rejected lot later.
Close enough to bring it at lunch
Fifteen minutes is a short enough drive that Layton customers treat us a lot like a local shop. Drop parts off on the way to something else, pick them up 2–3 business days later. For a rush, call first. Rush is available when the schedule allows, and we will tell you straight away whether it does.
Clearfield and Freeport Center shops with steady volume can ask about pickup and delivery on scheduled routes. Clearfield is about 15 minutes from the shop, and northern Davis County sits right on the way to a lot of things, so it is often an easy stop to add. Call 801-368-0788 to ask.
Fabrication shops in Layton, Kaysville and Syracuse use us both ways: every weldment, or just the overflow. Either is fine. Specs for repeat parts are saved by part number.
Fences, railings and all those new subdivisions
West Layton, Syracuse, West Point and Kaysville have added a lot of houses, and a lot of houses means a lot of fence panels, gates, deck railings and stair rails. Ornamental iron and fence builders bring us panels by the stack. The same black on every panel along a quarter mile of fence is the whole job.
Davis County fences also get something Salt Lake fences mostly do not: sprinkler overspray from hard irrigation water, every summer night. A well-cured powder coat over proper pretreatment shrugs it off far better than paint. Mineral spots wash off with water and a soft brush. The finish underneath stays put.
For architectural work on homes and commercial buildings, we can match a builder's color with custom color matching or work from a RAL number, and keep it on file for the next phase.

Layton: questions
Straight answers. The full list covers cost, durability, substrates, minimums, and pickup.
All questions →Do you coat parts for Hill AFB suppliers in Layton and Clearfield?
Yes, we coat machined and fabricated parts for shops in the Hill AFB supply chain. Masking for threads, bores and grounding points is standard, and we control film thickness on close-tolerance parts. Send the drawing and finish callout with your quote request, and we will tell you directly whether we can meet the specification before any parts change hands.
How long does it take to get from Layton to your shop?
About 15 minutes and 9 miles north on US-89. The Hill AFB main gate area is about 10 minutes away and Clearfield about 15; Farmington and Bountiful run longer. It is a short enough trip that most Layton customers just drop parts off and pick them up when the job is done, usually 2–3 business days later for a standard order.
Can you mask threads and bores on machined parts?
Yes. We plug threads, cap bores, and tape off mating surfaces and grounding points before coating. Mark the drawing or send a photo with the areas circled so nobody has to guess. For repeat parts, the masking instructions are saved with the part number, along with the powder, finish and mil thickness, so every batch is masked the same way.
Do you powder coat fence panels for new homes in Davis County?
Yes. Fence panels, gates, deck rails and stair rails are regular work, often in stacks for a single subdivision. Keeping one consistent color across every panel is the priority. Tell us how many phases the job has so we can plan powder supply. Powder coating also stands up to sprinkler overspray better than paint.
Is rush powder coating available for Layton customers?
Sometimes. Rush jobs are available when the shop schedule allows, and we will tell you on the phone or with the quote whether we can do it. Being fifteen minutes away helps, since parts can arrive the same morning. Call before you load up so we can confirm the date before you drive over.
