An Ogden-area powder coating shop, run properly.
Proper Powder Coating Co. is a locally owned powder coating shop in Uintah, Utah (just outside Ogden), coating parts for manufacturers, fab shops, and individuals across the Wasatch Front, Cache Valley, and southern Idaho. The shop is built around four things: the same color every run, a 2–3 business days turnaround, architectural-grade quality, and answering the phone.
The shop
We are a batch powder coating shop: blast booth, wash and pretreatment, spray booth, and a cure oven big enough for trailer frames. Parts come in on trucks, trailers, pallets, and occasionally in the back seat of a sedan, and they go out coated, cured, and wrapped.
Most of the work is repeat parts for businesses that build things in northern Utah: trailer builders, fab shops, railing and fence fabricators, off-road accessory makers, machine shops, and manufacturers running production SKUs. We also coat one-off parts for people who care about them. No part too small. Some parts too big.
Why we started it
The people behind Proper spent years on the buying side of powder coating, sending parts out for manufactured products and waiting to see what color came back. The problem was never finding a coater. It was finding one that matched the last run, hit the date, and picked up the phone.
So we built the shop we wanted to buy from. Specs on file by part number. A turnaround you can plan around. Quality good enough for furniture and architectural work. And a person who answers when you call, knows where your parts are, and tells you the truth about the schedule.
Why Uintah
The shop is in Uintah, at the mouth of Weber Canyon, about fifteen minutes from downtown Ogden. That puts it in the middle of northern Utah manufacturing. Hill Air Force Base and its supplier base are about ten minutes away, and so is Layton. Salt Lake City is about thirty-five minutes down the road. Cache Valley is about an hour, and southern Idaho is a straight shot north. A shop here can serve all of it without anyone driving more than they have to.
Ogden and Weber County still make things: steel fabrication, trailers, aerospace parts, outdoor equipment. Our customers are mostly our neighbors. See the Ogden service area page for the local details.

Is Proper Powder Coating hiring?
We hire for coating, blasting, masking, and racking as the shop grows. Experience is valued, but attention to detail and showing up matter more; we can teach someone to spray, and it is harder to teach someone to care about the back side of a bracket.
